Survive Red Gas

Quick Answer

Handle a gas-filled room and an end-of-shift warning differently. A room puzzle may offer raised desks and switches to clear the hazard; flashing red lights warn that Red Gas is being released and your return route matters immediately.

Recognize the actual warning

Red Gas has a specific warning: the lights flash red when it is released. Ordinary red-looking reflections are a different issue, so do not identify the gas solely from the overall color of a room.

The warning tells you that the threat is arriving. It does not establish a safe duration for staying behind, an exact damage rate, or a guaranteed refuge in a particular room.

Cross a gas-filled room using its raised route

A beta gas-room layout used school desks with their tops above the cloud and a series of switches spread through the rooms. The route was to hop between the raised surfaces and reach those switches to clear the gas.

Raised desk tops form a route above the gas in this beta room.

If you encounter that configuration, inspect the next desk and switch before jumping. Keep above the cloud where the room provides a raised route, and work through the switches instead of treating the room as a corridor you must sprint through at floor level.

This describes a particular gas-room setup, not a fixed map or a switch sequence for every run. Check the room you actually have. Clearing a room hazard also does not prove that the end-of-shift clock has stopped or that the exit quota is complete.

Prepare the return before the warning

  1. Keep track of your route back to Barry while collecting items.
  2. Use Glowsticks to mark useful junctions instead of assuming you will remember every turn.
  3. If you have Sketch-A-Map, use its overhead view to locate Barry and your teammates.
  4. Agree with your group when to stop extending the search and begin returning.

These are navigation precautions. Glowsticks and Sketch-A-Map help you find your way; they do not make a gas-filled route safe.

Use gas equipment without assuming immunity

The Gas Absorber is intended for red-gas hazards. If you have one, follow its current item prompt and check its effect before committing to the affected route. Its exact coverage, duration, and ability to sustain a late escape are not established here.

Do not confuse this tool with an Antidote for poison. A useful gas item also does not remove the need to finish delivery and leave; it is not evidence of unlimited protection after the shift ends.

Keep the quota and escape separate

Reaching Barry is not the whole objective. You still need the quota completed and the exit available. The launch changes make the exit hatch open automatically when the quota is reached, so do not plan around an older instruction that tells you to manually open it.

If the warning begins while your group is scattered, give a clear location call and use your marked route. A known route and an early return are more useful than an unverified last-second shortcut.
